Ask us a question
Who can adopt a family?

Individuals, families, friends, workplaces and community groups can all take part. You can shop for a family or contribute toward their wishlist.

When does registration open?

Adopt a Family registration opens October 20, 2026. We’ll add the form and full season details to this page when it opens.

How are families matched with sponsors?

After families are selected, we share a family catalogue containing their stories and personalized wishlists anonymously with sponsors. You can choose a family whose story speaks to you, subject to availability.

How long will it take to receive the family catalogue?

Please allow 3–5 days to receive the family catalogue. We want every sponsor to have time to learn about the families and choose who they’d like to support. As sponsors make their selections, our team needs a little time to confirm matches and update the catalogue.

Thank you for your patience while we make sure each family is matched thoughtfully.

What should we budget to adopt a family?

Adopting a family through Project Christmas goes beyond Christmas gifts. Much of each wishlist is made up of everyday essentials: winter boots and outerwear, warm clothing, socks, bedding, school supplies and groceries.

Families receive our support once and do not receive support from other sources, this year or in other years. We want this experience to make a lasting difference, so we aim to provide quality items that will serve them well beyond the holidays.

We recommend budgeting $200–$300 per family member. We know this is a significant commitment, so we encourage friends, families, workplaces and teams to sponsor together and share the cost.

If this does not fit your budget, please let us know and we can work together to find a solution, whether that means shopping for an individual or participating in another way.

Do I have to shop for the gifts myself?

You can shop from the family’s wishlist directly, or send us your donation and have our team shop for them.

What happens after I’m matched?

Our team will share the wishlist, labelling instructions and practical details, including how and when to get the gifts to us. Volunteers wrap the gifts before our team delivers them across Windsor-Essex.
